Mareike Enghusen is a German freelance journalist, writing for German print and online media about politics, economics and society in the Middle East. Currently, she is residing in Cairo as a fellow of the IJP Middle East Fellowship.
She speaks German, English, Spanish, French, Hebrew and Arabic (Levantine dialect).
In 2014, she completed her journalism training at the Henri Nannen School of Journalism in Hamburg. Afterwards she took part in the six-month Trialogue of Cultures Fellowship of Herbert Quandt Foundation in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
She holds an M.A. in Middle East & Islamic Studies from the American University of Paris and an M.Litt. in Iranian Studies from the University of St Andrews (with distinction).
